I hope you all followed along with me on Instagram as I (very briefly) went to New York Fashion Week. I had an amazing time and continue to be so grateful for the opportunity to go and support my favorite designers!

Here I am (above) with Michal Hidas — I’m a HUGE fan of her designs and have written about her before on my blog. She had her first pop up in NYC this summer and I was lucky enough to partner with her and get her clothing into two of my all-time favorite boutiques — 3NY in NYC and FELT in Chicago!
Attending her very first NYFW MAARKAH showcase was the shining moment of my trip! I was so proud watching her spring 2018 presentation! The all white space created the perfect backdrop for her colorful designs.

Her collection, “Bridging 2018”, may look like luxurious streetwear, and it is, but its meaning is so much deeper than that. Michal collaborated with a Palestinian architect and a calligrapher from Jerusalem to create the vibrant patterns and eye-catching silhouettes with the intention of shining a light on Syrian refugees through fashion with hopes of sparking a global conversation.
There are four parts to the collection — each representing how Syrian refugees view their experiences —  life before the war, the outbreak of war, the journey of being a refugee and last —the future. Michal has spent time in Greece volunteering at refugee camps and also in Israeli hospitals. Part of the profits of this collection will go to NGOs assisting Syrian refugees.
This show was about so much more than beautiful clothing and being their to witness it and feel its significance is something I will never forget.

You all know I’m a fan of jumpsuits, so it’s no surprise I am obsessed with Michal’s collection. Look at all those beautiful jumpsuits! The vibrant colors popped right off the runway and scream spring. My favorite part though — the cut. I love the necklines and the wide leg (a style that isn’t going anywhere anytime soon!).
I am also loving all her white pieces, which is something very new for Michal. My favorite was the first look of the show — white trousers and a peplum top.
I flew from Chicago specifically to see Michal’s NYFW debut showcase and I’m so glad I did. Seeing more and more Israeli designers during fashion week is incredibly exciting and makes me so proud!
Michal is looking for new boutiques in the U.S. where she can sell her designs. If you’re interested or know someone who might be, please reach out to me here or contact Michal.

Also, a few quick details on my outfit from the Michal Hidas show. My dress is by Israeli designer, Barak Lahav and is so comfortable, yet very chic and perfect for the day. My clutch is by Greedilous and boots are Chanel.
