Twice a year, buyers, press, and fans of fashion gather in New York City to view the latest collections from all the top designers. New York Fashion Week is the highlight of the fashion industry each season. It’s where the industry meets and where established and emerging designers display their latest work for discerning and judgmental eyes.

This year international designers will be joining the presentation. The “Maarkah” event is meant to highlight international designers during the major fashion industry event that is New York Fashion Week. It will display the work of designers from faraway lands such as India, Egypt, Russia, and Australia.

The event will be held on September 9th & 10th, with the top names in international fashion displaying their current collections at the Museum of The City Of New York. The collections will consist of both haute couture and sportswear. There will also be a portion for “Modest Wear” highlighting clothing that is more conservative in nature, and that caters to a more religious crowd. There will be a panel discussion about the topic, featuring models, and other influencers.

Maarkah means “brand” in numerous languages, and the top brands from around the world will be participating. The event provides an opportunity for established and emerging international designers to showcase their talents for fashion industry insiders.

Opening the event is renown Indian designer Archana Kochar. Working for over a decade, her collections have been worn by international celebrities and socialites. She is known for revolutionizing the bridal arena with her glamorous looks, Indian-inspired and contemporary silhouettes, and high-quality craftsmanship. As one of the most sought-after bridal designers, she blends traditional embroideries and texturizing techniques with modern color blocked patterns. Her work is in both couture and ready-to-wear, including innovatively styled and draped lehengas, saris, gowns, anarkalis as well as luxe ranges of tunics and kaftans.

Presenting with Archana Kochar is international glass sculptor Hasna Sal. Hasna will be displaying her new collection of handcrafted glass jewelry. Hasna is known for her hand-made glass installations that use bold colors and flowing shapes, to convey emotion and energy.

“My sculptures are a cornucopia of planes, textures, tonalities, resonances, moods, emotions, morality, chaos and more. And finally, my sculptures are the voice of color. Color is fundamental to the human spirit. It alleviates, invigorates, humanizes us. . . and I let it serenade.” – Hasna Sal. She will be partnering with Archana Kochar as the first show in the New York Fashion Week “Maarkah” Event. Models will be walking the runway with Archana Kochar gowns and Hasna Sal’s Jewelry.

The partnership is another step in combining influences from around the world to make a statement in fashion. Both artists produce unique one-of-a-kind creations that transform the world of the buyer. This will be the second year of the “Maarkah” event and will likely grow to feature more designers over the years.
